Dean referreed the match like it was rugby union.
Set the tone early when Payet swerved past the defender in front of the benches and the bloke hit him with a body slam that wouldn't have been out of place in WWF. No yellow card.
A bit later he got shirtfronted with a hand to the face and it wasn't even a free kick.

Dean had an interesting game. He reffed like he was committed to not brandishing a card at all. Towards the end he ignored two Norwich fouls, especially the one where the defender had his arm around Carroll's neck, then he gives a relatively softer one at the death from which our equaliser came.

Alex - The crowd demand that you have a go at home, if you don't they get on your back and you can then get an ugly atmosphere. Football may have changed but the onus is still on the home team to be offensive. Also, Bilic knows how important it is to score first, hence having a go from the off, had we done that you may have then seen us retreat more.

>>> We've gotta go at teams more at home (obviously!).

I disagree. There's not much more you can do to attack at home than play 5 roving attacking players in the cavalier fashion as we did yesterday. That was the entire problem with our approach imo - it was ludicrously attacking. It left Noble and our defence completely exposed, and didn't even work very well as an attacking formation.

It's the third home match where Bilic has tinkered and taken absurd risks that give the opposition a free ticket to attack our defence.

I know mate. It just seems that most of the players don't read the game for themselves or try anything out the ordinary when it's called for (to tryn score). Cos they've been told not to.

As you say though, that's modem football. (Stats etc).
Can't wait till we can all jet pack to the Westfield Bowl and back home again and not have to queue at UP station anymore. Then we'll really become the modern day football Supporters!

Right, onwards and upwards.

I agree, but that's modern day football I'm afraid. Now you have to respect the opposition more, 'no game is easy' etc..the days of us battering sides at home are probably all but over. Not that we did it that much anyway!

Re: West Ham v Norwich - Official Match Thread 2-2 FT
He was clearly at fault for the first goal. Yes, Tomkins could have pulled out of the attempted challenge, but that is easier said than done as his momentum almost forced him to carry on, plus if he had pulled out he would have been left flat footed and Brady may well have gone past him still anyway.

The second goal, Noble should not have showed Redmond the outside, but Noble isn't a defender, so it was hardly crime of the century imo, and usually the ball wouldn't end up nestled in the bottom corner.

Yep, we got lucky with the draw.
We've gotta go at teams more at home (obviously!). Everyone's clapping when we get a throw-in over there at the moment. That's no good. The 'visitors' should be shitting themselves to come and play there. We've got a decent squad now and what with our normally passionate support, we shouldn't give other teams the opportunity to knock the ball about and kill the atmosphere.
Basically, LIVEN UP and go for the jugular from the off.

UP THE 'AMMERS!

GBH63, how was Jenkinson arguably more at fault for the first goal than Noble?

I would certainly argue with that.

Had we poayed more of the game with the urgency of the last 6, we!0'd have tonked them 7-0. Down to the manager that.

Thought we got out of jail yesterday and things need changing at home sharpish. The last 5-6 minutes we got at them and could have nicked it if we upped the tempo before they went 2-1 up.
Jenkinson is a big problem and although he played very well at Man city last week Noble Is so slow and has zero imagination that as soon as Song is fit he should be back up at best.

Re: West Ham v Norwich - Official Match Thread 2-2 FT
Worst player by a mile yesterday was Jenkinson, offered little going forward, dragged out of position defensively and relied on pace ( which he seems to have lost) to get him out of bother. Arguably more at fault for the goals than Noble as both came from Jenkinsons area.
Seems to have lost what he offered last season and now just runs around the pitch like the head case out of grand theft auto.

Can't understand how he's under the radar for his performance. Hopefully he gets his form of last year back as he seems too comfortable with himself after signing the new Arsenal deal.

Reality Cheques,

Yeah I'd sell him in January too. No hesitation if we can get any sort of semi-reasonable offer.

Adam.

Totally agree with your thoughts about Carroll & managers use of him today & moving forward.

They mirror my own & how I see him.

That being said I'd sell him like a shot if we got anywhere near getting a half decent offer for him in Jan, but it'll have to be a sale & see no point of a loan.

Re: West Ham v Norwich - Official Match Thread 2-2 FT
Criticising Bilic for bringing Carroll on seems a little strange given we created three clear cut goal scoring chances when he was on the pitch (and scored 1.) That was a better return than for the time he wasn't on the field.

Just to be clear, there's no way I'd ever start Carroll and I'm not even a fan, but as an impact sub when we are chasing a late equaliser, I think he has a viable role and I believe that was reasonably well demonstrated today.

Nobles been at fault for every goal we've conceded. Hopefully Bilic has noticed and the skipper of a top 6 side is dropped.

We literally cannot carry him anymore.
